The Girl With Kaleidoscope Eyes

L <3 V E

Netflix added a new tv series called, love. After watching two seasons in three days, I have an idea where the title came from. The show, Love, is my NEW number one favorite.

Love is about a couple, that obviously love each other… BUT it is not your average cliche. The producers took a more realistic take of relationships.  The movie summary describes it as a, “down-to-earth relationship” and that is what it is.

The shows main woman character is, Mickey. Mickey is a bad ass, rebellious, beats to her own drum, but she is also dating a no good man. She works for a radio station, and battles addiction of alcohol, drugs, and sex (the perfect story, right?). All while her life is going up and down, she runs into a very nice guy..

This nice guy is, Gus. Gus is perceived to be a affectionate, harmless, over nice guy. Obviously, his characteristics have allowed girls to take advantage of him. But Gus is over it. He, becomes less of a nice guy and more of a ladies man.

Gus and Mickey also have friends in the show, that make it even more realistic with relationships.

This show is a whirl wind of emotions. I have laughed, screamed, and cried. Love is honestly a show like I have never seen before.

I recommend this show 10/10. If you have not seen it yet, I strongly encourage watching it!!

Reminisce With Me!!

Last weekend, the radio played, “Rock and Roll All Night” and for some reason it brought back one flashback. I immediately started reminiscing on this item, and decided to dedicate this blog to the crazy things I grew up with. I really hope someone can reminisce on the days with me!

First, I’ll explain what memory the song brought to me. PLEASE, SOMEONE, ANYONE.. tell me you remember tooth tunes. You know, the tooth brush that made brushing your teeth less of a hassle when you were younger?? Well, my tunes toothbrush played, “Rock and Roll All Night.” I could never forget the awesome guitar solo that told me my brushing was almost done!! (Suppose to brush teeth till end of the song)  This toothbrush will forever be a part of me.tooth tunes

As if the 2000’s didn’t bring enough music with the Tooth Tunes. The Hit Clips were always another option. I remember carrying my Hit Clip around with me, everywhere. The Backstreet Boys had never sounded so good!! My key chain was full of Brittney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and *NSYNC!!

Did someone say Jibbitz?? After school, I would beg my parents to take me to the local sporting good store so i could customize my crocs. Jibbitz came in every category; animals, sports, numbers, the whole nine yards. And let me tell you, I added a few pounds to the Crocs because Jibbitz did not have a limit.

He was a sk8r boi, she said c ya l8r boi!! Yep, what’s better than being ten singing some Avril Lavigne? Nothing. Avril Lavigne was my inspiration. She was such a hard ass, and was inspired to find my Sk8R Boi!

Not only was the song Lip Gloss cool, but so was Lip Smakers. I would go into Limited Too and browse for a new flavor. My lips were always so greasy, but it did not matter because my new flavor of Lip Smakers probably tasted very good!

Birkenstocks are still very popular, but not the type I used to wear with my bermuda shorts. Everyday, i wore plaid bermuda shorts finished with my Birkenstock Clogs! That actually was not just my style, but literally EVERYONES in the early 2000’s.

I could go on and on reminiscing on the 2000’s. I grew up in an awkward generation, but hey, I loved the weird things that were cool. Here’s to the early 2000’s! Kids these days will never know what it’s like to be so simple and millennial.

Here is a list of my current jams..

One Headlight – The Wallflowers

Fun song to cruise around on.

I Don’t Wanna Be- Gavin Degraw

This song is an oldie but a goldie.

Congratulations – Post Malone

This song still gets me hype.

Slippery – Migos

Love this song, mainly bc of Gucci Mane. I just wish he would stay out of jail long enough to drop a new album.

Just Let Go – Sturgill Simpson

Sturgill is my man!!! I highly recommend downloading his albums.

Caroline – Colter Wall

Colter Wall, another man that has a voice of gold. This songs slower, but too sweet.

Let me know what you think of these songs, and feel free to leave song request in the comments. I am open to all music!!

Spring Has Sprung

AHHH, the feeling of waking up to a warm day. What is more promising than a day full of sunshine? Nothing – because with sunshine, comes less clothes. I am talking no more stress of trying to find a jacket to match my outfit or the painfully cool breeze causing an irritable attitude. Yep, SPRING. The calm before the storm, the blistering hot storm. With that being said, it is time to peel the thick layers off and prepare for a lovely season.

In the Spring, I tend to make Summer clothes. I become so anxious, I jump ahead. I think, “Well if I cannot wear it right now, I can at least make it.” Therefore, my Spring is spent at Goodwill browsing for some ideal shirts or shorts.

These shorts cost me $3 in all. I purchased the jeans for one dollar the flea market, the patches from Walmart for $2, and I called it a deal. Personally, I do not like my shorts very short so I tend to buy high-waisted jeans and cut them up to the length I feel is appropriate. I also love patches, I think they add personality. This project is fun, and super simple. Also, incredibly affordable compared to name brand clothing!

I’ve said it once and I will say it again.. Overall’s are a MUST this summer. They are casual and can make for a cute outfit. Overalls are just as easy as shorts. Just cut to the appropriate length, and consider it done. Generally, overalls cost around ten dollars at a goodwill. I am guessing because people actually wear them to work in, but the ten dollar is well spent for basically a two piece!

A really easy way of making a t shirt look more casually nice (step above t-shirt casual), is by cutting it and adding some string or shoe laces! Very simple, just cut the collar, go to the middle (the top of front) and cut down to choice of length. After doing that, cut small holes on each side of the split, find a shoe string, and start lacing it up! Does not take much time or money.

Bleaching black tops is becoming a trend. I mean, I think it is pretty cool. This is so so so simple. Find a cute black top, preferably old. Do not damage a nice shirt for this. Then, add however much bleach you please and BOOM. Now, you can consider yourself a rocking millennial!

These are my spring projects for summer. It is always  fun to wear your own creation. I highly suggest making a wardrobe! It is super fun, and very cheap.

Dream Life

Today my horoscope read, “There’s no place like home. Where would you go if you were to click your heels three times (Dorothy on Wizard of Oz)? If you cannot leave physically to get there, then at least visit it in your imagination. Find your happy place, and follow the path.” Being a pisces, I day dream a whole lot. Today, I am going to share my happy place in forty years.

I say forty years, because my next biggest milestone is my sixty year old self. Lets be real, what is better than being retired, having your life figured out, and just rolling with the punches.

My dream location is Townsend, Tennessee. If you have visited before, you would know it is not much. It is generally only visited on tourist way into The Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Townsend has one grocery store, approximately three gas stations, and little knick knack/ antique stores all along the road. Typically, there are vendors selling fresh fruit and ripe vegetables on the side of the road.

With a beautiful landscape of mountains and The Little Pigeon River running through it, I would want a cozy home.

My house would be a small, but accesible cottage. My cottage include a sunroom, and skyline lighting. The back porch would be the hot spot. I would have a bed swing, along with rocking chairs, where I could drink my coffee in the mornings and watch the sunrise over the river.

My occupation in Townsend would be…

At sixty years old, if I do not have a antique store or my own booth in a Flea Market… Then, I have failed myself. I want to make crafts and sell them at local events. Eventually, I will find my niche in crafting and hopefully it will become profitable.

It does not sound like much, but I find joy in the simple things. Hopefully, this dream comes true, but it is not all reality. As long as I have a healthy family, many animals, and an incredible husband, I will be content.

CRAFTING a little.

Have you ever started picking up your room, and then say, “okay, I am going to rearrange some things!”?  Well, I just caught myself saying that at 10:30 p.m. on a Monday night (I am normally asleep by 9:30). Anyway, the idea started with the new Life WTR bottle. It has a very eccentric design on it that has my mind thinking of all the unique things I can make out of it. Therefore, I sat down in the midst of my room being torn apart and starting pinning other things I can make. Currently, an hour later I am still trying to MacGyver any possible thing. Along with creating a Hobby Lobby/Goodwill list for tomorrow.

The middle one is the one that I have. I have cut the round top part off so it is a straight tube, giving me more room to work with. Since the bottle is clear and has a unique colorful design, I am torn between two options. I could put a salt lamp at the top of it, creating a one of a kind night light. Or, with today being the first day of Spring, I could make it a flower vase. I will honestly probably buy more just so I can create random pieces when I am bored.

My favorite past time ever is to paint or draw on a canvas. I have no experience what so ever, but sometimes I can surprise myself. Mainly because I have been known to give up halfway through things- hints why my rooms a wreck, and I am blogging. When I do have that creative hair in my body, I do like to pursue for however long it may last. So, if boredom ever hits: run out and buy a cheap canvas and draw/paint whatever you are feeling that day. It is a cheap project that keeps you entertained and adds your personal touch to the wall.

I purchased this lamp at a flea market four years ago. The man I bought it from makes all different kinds from whiskey bottles to a watering can. I am a little extra when it comes to them, but you can literally make them out of ANYTHING. That is what I love about lighting. This project itself is probably items all around your house, costing you nothing for a bold table piece. (side note: cutting the glass may be difficult :/ )

POT- not that kind

This is my next project. If I did not think there was a chance of getting kidnapped at Wal-Mart right now, I would be making these. I can not keep a plant alive for more than a week, but the awesome thing about these terrariums…they do not die!! Woo hoo, no responsibility for a responsible decoration. The most expensive thing about this project, is probably the $4 jar of choice. OR, use an old jelly jar or fish bowl!

This craft is a little more complicated, utensils and time consuming. I think it is worth it, these coasters would cost near $25 at any known store. With your own creativity and imagination, it could cost no more than $8. I have yet to do this yet, but it is my coming up craft.

I enjoy spending my time crafting or making something a decoration. I hope to one day be able to knit. I would make all of my clothes, so if you have any pointers or tips on knitting/sewing please leave some comments!
